Strengthen the Mitigation
In order to strengthen the mitigation efforts against earthquakes and tsunamis, the Head of BMKG (Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency) and his staff conducted a working visit to Maluku Province from September 2-4, 2021. The Maluku Islands are a high-risk area for earthquakes and tsunamis due to the convergence of the Pacific and Australian plates. According to BMKG's Tsunami Catalogue, from the 1600s until 2006, there have been 45 recorded incidents.

The IOC-UNESCO Intergovernmental Coordination
The IOC-UNESCO Intergovernmental Coordination Group for the Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System (ICG/IOTWMS) held its thirteenth session in Bali, Indonesia during 28 November to 1 December 2022. The meeting was hosted by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia through the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG).

Officially Opened the 2021 Operational Fishermen Weather Field School (SLCN)
The Head of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency, Dwikorita Karnawati, officially opened the 2021 Operational Fishermen Weather Field School (SLCN) in East Java, which took place at the Meeting Hall of the Banyu Urip Fishermen's Village in Ujung Pangkah District, Gresik Regency, East Java Province on Monday, April 5th.

Boentuka Village
Boentuka Village, Batuh Putih District, NTT, has successfully increased its harvest yield significantly from 5 tons/ha to 10.9 tons/ha (twice the average). This improvement occurred after the farmers received knowledge about weather and climate through the Climate Field School (SLI), which is a flagship program of BMKG. This was directly acknowledged by the Chairman of the Oelana Farmer Group, Yohanes Fallo, at the Climate Field School Harvest Festival held on Friday.

Training Workshop
Training Workshop on Climate Variability and Predictions, held in Ankara, Turkey, from the 25 to 29 April, focused on the 2015/16 El Niño event and addressed a wide range of related topics. The Workshop updated the 70 participants on the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and other modes of climate variability in order to reinforce the concepts and tools for seasonal to interannual climate forecasting and to analyze how to communicate this information to the public.

Developing a Multi-Hazard Early Warning System
BMKG Head, Dwikorita Karnawati, revealed the strategy for developing a Multi-Hazard Early Warning System in front of hundreds of participants from world meteorological agencies, UN organizations, NGOs, donor countries, academics, media, and private sectors. Dwikorita presented this strategy at the 2nd Multi-Hazard Early Warning Conference (MHEWC-II) with the theme "Early Warning and Early Action towards Sustainable, Resilient, and Inclusive Communities" at the World Meteorology Organization (WMO) headquarters in Switzerland.

This was conveyed by Dwikorita during a session at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
